This medal has been modeled in a rough style which suits the subject matter of the medal.

The obverse side of the medal displays a number of derogatory words that have been hurled at gay people over the centuries. These words are meant to belittle and shame the victim.

The word "faggot" comes form the bundles of sticks that were used to burn to death gay people tied to the stake. Scientific names to label gay people were only invented a short time ago. The word "homosexual" was first used by Karoly Benkert, a Swiss gay doctor in 1869. The word "gay" began to be used primarily in America in the late 1940's.

At the bottom of the word display a crowd of people are assembled with their weapons looking to attack gays. They carry their holy book to show their supposed superiority and righteousness and their baseball bats for bashing heads. They are a crowd of bullies who roam like a pack of animals to attack innocent and helpless victims.

The reverse of the medal displays the old rhyme about sticks and stones breaking bones but name calling not hurting anyone. This is an old idea that we now know is totally incorrect. Calling someone derogatory names can destroy the spirit, eliminate confidence and could even lead to suicide. Words can be powerful weapons. They are shouted by the bully. Words can destroy the victim. By acknowledging the power of words perhaps humanity will be able to control them when they are used to attack and kill.
